This class introduces the Kinesthetic Sense and its effect on our body coordination, tension level, and amount of effort and pressure we produce during movement. Experiments include bending over the table, using the shoulders, arms, neck, head, and legs when giving a massage, as well as other movements. In this class we also take a thorough look at how not to interfere with the natural flow of the movement; how to pause before the action; and to prepare before carrying out an activity. Upon completion of Level 1 students are able to choose from 8 key essential oils to use in practice or for self. Upon completion of Level 2 students are able to further advance their choices of essential oils to support their own well-being as well as the treatments with their clients. A deeper understanding of the oils and their use for emotional and energetic work is also included. Topics cover: Discussion and Feedback on aromatherapy case studies, Using essential oils in a clinical setting with appropriate terms (e.g., galactagogue, cephalic), the Impact of essential oils on each of the body's systems and related methods of application, the Study of 16 carrier oils and their therapeutic values, Chemistry of essential oils, Advanced Blending and working with the energy systems using essential oils. In this course, students feel the cranial-sacral rhythm and its pulse. Students learn techniques to reduce stiff, sore, injured, numb and tired soft tissue. These techniques are used to touch the core of the nervous system with healing and clarity and, using a light yet extremely powerful touch, spark the immune system, and reduce pain and blocks in the physical and energy body. Finally students learn to treat people who are extra-sensitive to pressure and stress. Some Qi Gong will be incorporated to develop sensitivity to energy. This 6 hour class gives you a basic understanding of emotions held in the soft and hard tissues. You'll learn how to approach clients who have an emotional response during a massage session so that you can create a supportive, accepting and safe environment for them to feel their feelings. Often, clients are surprised, confused or embarrassed by their emotions. This primer class gives you the confidence to deal with feelings that come up in clients and yourself so that the massage experience is truly healing on many levels. This course presents a seated massage based on the oriental energy system. Students are introduced to an easy Qi Gong practice to associate with the concept of Ki (Chi). Class is primarily practical but location of specific acupuncture lines and points are covered, as well as indications, contraindications and body dynamics. Students learn a 20-30 minute pattern for massage of head, neck, back, hips, arms and hands with the client seated in a massage chair or on a stool. Stretches of neck, shoulders and back are included in the pattern. By the end of the course, students are able to correlate with the concept of Ki, recognize some basic Acupuncture points in the upper body, perform a 20-30 minute routine of Japanese Chair Massage and demonstrate good body dynamics.

Comfort-oriented massage or touch can be administered to people with cancer regardless of the severity of their condition. The purpose of this class is to train touch therapists in the basics of oncology massage. This class begins by covering the anatomy of the temporal-mandibular joint (TMJ), the inner mouth, and the nerves and muscles associated with TMJ Pain Syndrome, a common complaint among clients. It then teaches a simple hands-on technique to alleviate pain and restore normal joint movement required for speech, eating and expression. Course hand-out and vinyl gloves provided.

This class focuses on creating a holistic experience for the client by extensive massage of the face and head. The theory part of the course discusses the integumentary and sensory systems. Different skin types are looked at and what kind of massage oil is best used on the different skin types is discussed. The hands-on portion of the class demonstrates for students an acupressure point massage of the head and face as well as a Swedish Massage of the head and face. Different mediums, such as water, sugar, a derma globe device and oil, are used to trigger a variety of sensory input during the massage. Essential oils are used to stimulate the olfactory system. Different stimulation of the skin such as hot and cold is included. Students are also taught facial exercises with focus on recognition of specific facial muscles. By the end of the course, students are able to recognize the different main skin types, define the skin as an organ, apply the techniques of Acupressure and Swedish massage in a facial massage, discuss massage oils best suited for certain skin types, demonstrate proficiency in facial exercises, and plan and compose a holistic massage experience.

This course is based on the teachings of Thai Foot Massage according to the pattern taught at the Wat Po School of Traditional Thai Massage in Bangkok, Thailand. This massage originates from a 3000-year-old Chinese tradition and is said to stimulate the activity of the inner organs. Basic theory, including indications and contraindications, is initially covered in the class (the reflex zone theory is covered briefly) and emphasis is put on the practical implementation of Thai Foot Massage. The massage starts with a foot bath, and is further performed with fingers and hands as well as with a wooden stick dipped in lotion and oil. Thai Foot Massage consists of massage strokes and pressure point work. Massage is performed on the feet and along the Sen energy lines on the lower legs. Accurate working technique is emphasized to maintain authenticity. By the end of the course, students are able to relate to the background of Thai Foot Massage, apply a foot massage in accordance with the pattern taught, use the massage stick safely, demonstrate the run of the Sen lines in the lower legs, and discuss the importance of working with sensitivity and good technique.
